Frequently asked questions
Below are some common questions my patients ask regarding testing and costs. If you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set up a telephone conference to discuss your unique needs.
- Does insurance cover these tests?
It is hard to answer this question for everybody. Many policies allow fertility testing, but not treatment. In these cases, there could be some coverage. The lab that performs the ERA biopsy does not accept insurance, but they give a receipt that can be submitted.
- If I am paying cash, how much are these tests?
Here is a partial list of estimated costs:
Initial consultation: $315 (includes full chart review)
ERA biopsy $1,000
DNA Fragmentation $400
HSG or office hysteroscopy $600
Immune testing $900 (varies, depending on what tests are done)
PGD testing of embryos $4,600
- Do I have to see Dr. Feinman, or can my own doctor do this evaluation?
Of course, most IVF doctors are qualified to perform these tests. This website can help you decide what is appropriate for you. However, some IVF doctors do not recognize the value of these tests and may not be willing to do them. For the most part, the HRC doctors will help you with whatever is necessary.
- Should these tests be done prior to doing a first IVF cycle?
Most of these tests are reasonable to consider. In my view, immune testing should be reserved for patients with more than one failed attempt with chromosomally normal embryos and negative results in the other areas.
